netrw software package provides netcat like tool with nice features to transport files over network, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install netrw
netrw is installed in your system.
Make ensure the netrw package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep netrw *
You will get with netrw package name, version, architecture and description in a table
